PUTRAJAYA: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim today maintained that there are “no problems” between him and Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the transition of power, days after the prime minister said he would not remain in charge beyond three years.
“I am meeting shortly with Mahathir, I will (seek) clarification from him,” he said at the finance ministry here.
“Absolutely no problem with the transition of power,” he added.
Anwar played down the meeting, stating it is a weekly meeting with Mahathir.
He said it is only right to give Mahathir space to run the country without interference or pressure to resign, adding that “I am satisfied”.
“I understand that and Dr M understands that, too. For me, the issue (transition of power) is settled,” he said.
Asked how he would feel if Mahathir stayed in power for three years, Anwar said: “Those are conjectures.”
