Khor Siang Gin, 49, Thein Ling Yen, 41, and Tan Siew Fung, 50, were charged with submitting a fake sales and purchase document to obtain the waivers from the housing division of the Penang State Secretary’s Office (PSUK) for a housing project on May 8, 2017.

The three were accused of submitting the fake document to PSUK to obtain a 30% waiver for the Bumiputera quota, which was estimated to cost RM1,635,870.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property. If convicted, they face a maximum jail term of 10 years, whipping and a fine.

Sessions judge Nizam Zakaria allowed bail of RM20,000 each with one surety per person for all three and set June 28 for mention.

All three of the accused posted bail.
