
“I don’t see any reason why I should reshuffle the Cabinet. I believe eventually they are going to be as good as any experienced members,” he said in an interview with reporters here today.
He added that he is conservative when it comes to such matters.
“I have been in the government for 22 years,” he said, referring to his first stint as prime minister from 1981 to 2003.
He said this when asked to assess the performance of his Cabinet members, many of whom are first-time ministers appointed after Pakatan Harapan wrested Putrajaya from Barisan Nasional in the May 9 polls.
He said although he knows how a government functions, the new ministers do not, and are afraid of being accused of wrongdoing.
This makes the decision-making process more difficult, although they are learning quickly, he added.
He said sometimes they would approach him to ask for advice, which he would give.
