Malaysian injured in NZ mosque shooting

Authorities have locked down central Christchurch and declared an 'active shooter' situation.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian High Commission in New Zealand said at least one Malaysian has been injured in today’s shooting incident at a mosque in Christchurch which killed scores of people.

“The High Commission is in close contact with the local authorities to get further details on the victims,” the high commission announced on Twitter.

Police have confirmed that at least two mosques were targeted today as worshippers attended Friday prayers, prompting authorities to declare an “active shooter” situation.

Authorities have locked down central Christchurch as police reported multiple casualties at the Al Noor Mosque.

Authorities have advised mosques and schools to shut down until further notice.
