SHAH ALAM: The widow of Nazrin Hassan, the former CEO of government-funded start-up investor Cradle Fund whose burnt body was found in his house in Petaling Jaya last year, today pleaded not guilty to a charge of murdering her husband.

Samirah Muzaffar – the daughter of prominent social scientist Chandra Muzaffar – and two teenagers were charged with Nazrin’s murder under Section 302 of Penal Code, which carries the death penalty.

“I did not do it,” Samirah, who was represented by prominent lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, told High Court judge Ab Karim Ab Rahman.

The court also set April 11 for case mention.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Zain Ibrahim informed the court that 75 people were questioned during the investigation into Nazrin’s death.

But he said it could not be confirmed how many of them would be called as witnesses.

“We request that the court give us two months and another case mention date,” he added.

Nazrin’s death was initially classified as sudden death. Police later reclassified it as murder after investigations found traces of gasoline at the scene.
