PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the statement by MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull was a “confirmation” that the party was right all along in denying allegations that some RM90 million in funds related to 1MDB had been transferred to PAS accounts.

“The confirmation proves that accusations by local and foreign quarters were a lie, a wild slander and an evil plot that was designed to tarnish the image and integrity of PAS especially in the run-up to the last general election,” he said.

Speaking to reporters in Kuala Terengganu today, MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull said its investigation so far had not found any evidence that RM90 million was transferred into PAS’ accounts.’

Shukri however said the probe was still ongoing.

Takiyuddin urged those making the allegations to accept the announcement by MACC as an “authentic fact that has been established after a transparent and professional investigation without fear or favour”.

He said PAS also reserved the right to take legal action against those continuing to make such claims.

The probe by MACC followed the out-of-court settlement reached between PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown, who first made the claim in an article published on the whistleblower site in August 2017.

Rewcastle-Brown said senior PAS leaders could have received RM90 million from then Umno president Najib Razak.

Hadi had filed his suit at a London high court.

The article however remains online, with Sarawak Report recently insisting that such transactions did take place.
