KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have arrested three men and seized 92.7kg of ketamine worth RM5.6 million concealed in Chinese tea packets.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crimes Investigation Department deputy director Zulkifli Ali said the seizure of the drugs followed the arrest of a 41-year-old man in a car at Jalan Jengka, Subang Jaya, near here at 7.40pm on Friday.

Police found 90 Chinese tea packets containing the drugs in a sack under the floorboard of the back seat.

The other two men, aged 49 and 54, were in another car when they were caught at the Sungai Buloh rest-and-recreation area along the North-South Expressway.

“We believe the drugs were brought in from a neighbouring country to be distributed around the Klang Valley.

“The haul could have supported 300,000 ‘fixes’,” he told reporters at the Subang Jaya police headquarters here today.

Zulkifli said each packet weighed more than 1kg which could fetch between RM60,000 and RM65,000 in the market.

Police seized the two cars and another one belonging to the third suspect and RM8,000 and a watch, he said.

He also said the Subang Jaya police caught 17,363 people for drug offences and seized drugs worth a total of RM90.1 million in January. Those arrested include 16,245 Malaysians.

The drugs seized include syabu (611kg); ketamine (10kg), eramin (3.34kg), yaba pills (3.19kg), ecstasy (6.7kg), cannabis (5.18kg) and heroin (83.62kg).
