Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said they had been trying to find and arrest Riduan since May 30, 2014, based on a warrant of committal issued by the Ipoh High Court.
“Even though a media statement seeking public and even Riduan’s cooperation was issued earlier, efforts have so far failed.
“The police would again like to urge members of the public who have any information on Riduan to come forward and work together with the police to solve this case,” he said in a statement today.
He said the police had also informed the lawyer representing M Indira Gandhi of all efforts made to track down her former husband and her daughter, Prasana Diksa.
In January last year, the Federal Court set aside the unilateral conversion of Indira’s three children to Islam after ruling that any conversion of non-Muslim children must get the consent of both parents.
The judgment has been described as a landmark ruling, with the court also stating that only the civil court can decide on matters of conversion involving minors.
In November, Indira made an open plea to the inspector-general of police to be kept abreast of developments in the hunt for her ex-husband and youngest child, whom she last saw when the girl was 11 months old.
