KUALA LUMPUR:
The mother of former minister Jamaluddin Mohd Jarjis today filed an affidavit-in-reply against the preliminary objection by Jamaluddin’s widow and their four children to her application to obtain the ‘faraid’ (wealth distribution) certificate on his estate worth over RM2 billion.

Syarie lawyer Nur Hidayah A Bakar, representing Aminah Abdullah, 85, filed the affidavit-in-reply during the management of the case, held in chambers before Syariah High Court registrar Siti Zulaiha Mohamad Mansor.

“Aminah has filed an affidavit-in-reply against the preliminary objection submitted by her son’s widow, Kalsom Ismail and four children.

“The court set March 4 for next case management to enable the widow and the children to file their affidavit-in-reply,” she told reporters after today’s proceedings.

Aminah filed the application to obtain the faraid certificate on her son’s estate on March 2 last year.

Nur Hidayah said the court also fixed Feb 12 for case management on the matrimonial claim filed by Kalsom several months after Aminah filed the application for the faraid certificate.

Jamaluddin, who was a former Malaysian ambassador to the United States, was killed on April 4, 2015, when the helicopter he was travelling in from Pekan, Pahang, en route to Kuala Lumpur crashed in Kampung Sungai Pening, Semenyih, Selangor.

He is survived by Kalsom, 63, and their four children – Nur Anis, 34, Ikwan Hafiz, 32, Nurul Alyaa, 28, and Noor Adilla, 24.

Also killed in the crash were the pilot Captain Clifford William Fournier; former prime minister Najib Razak’s private secretary Azlin Alias; businessman Tan Huat Seang, Jamaludin’s personal aide Razakan Seran, and a woman identified as Aidana Baizieva.
