The silence is deafening over Dr M’s pol-sec issue, says Wee

Muhammad Zahid Arip, who is Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's political secretary, has been implicated in former Felda chairman Isa Samad's corruption case.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong says it is appalling that PH leaders have not raised a single objection or comment on Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s political secretary’s alleged link to Isa Samad’s case.
PETALING JAYA:
MCA president Wee Ka Siong has slammed Pakatan Harapan leaders for their silence on Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s political secretary who has been implicated in the corruption trial of former Felda chairman Isa Samad.

In a statement, Wee said it was “truly appalling” that no PH leader has dared to raise a single objection or comment on Muhammad Zahid Arip being implicated as the middleman in nine out of the 10 corruption charges filed against Isa on Friday.

Isa, the former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar, had been charged with nine counts of accepting bribes amounting to RM3 million in connection with the purchase of a hotel in Sarawak for RM160 million.

Zahid, who is Isa’s former special officer, had allegedly collected the amounts on the latter’s behalf.

Wee lamented that despite Zahid’s role being detailed in nine out of 10 charges against Isa, Zahid had not been charged and had been allowed to keep his job.

Mahathir had previously defended Zahid, saying at this juncture, the allegations against Zahid were mere accusations.

“Where are the voices of the likes of (Lim) Kit Siang, Anwar (Ibrahim), Gobind (Singh Deo), (Lim) Guan Eng and those who claim that the PH government practises the ‘rule of law’ and clean government?” he said, referring to the senior PH leaders.

“Have all of these so-called proponents of clean government been fully muted now due to personal interests and their comfy positions in the ruling government?”
