“I have declared mine according to the schedule that was set. To friends who have yet to declare, please do so.
“Even if you don’t have anything to declare, put zero. If you don’t have any assets, put no assets,” he said in a press conference at the PPBM headquarters here.
This follows reports of several government leaders who have yet to declare their assets. They include Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamaddin Ketapi who yesterday described himself as a “poor man”, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department P Waytha Moorthy who also said he had nothing to declare to MACC.
Others who have not declared their assets include Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal, Port Dickson MP Anwar Ibrahim, Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid and de facto law minister Liew Vui Keong.
Aside from Faizal, two other PPBM MPs have yet to declare their assets: Noor Azmi Ghazali (Bagan Serai) and Shahruddin Md Salleh (Sri Gading).
Commenting on the performance of several menteris besar from PPBM, Muhyiddin said it was important that they understood their role.
He defended them from critics, saying some of them were still relatively new and had little experience in governing a state.
“So I don’t have to put ratings as the people can judge for themselves. What’s important is self-improvement and knowing what’s best for the people.”
On talk that Sabah leaders could leave Umno, Muhyiddin said this would be a good development for Pakatan Harapan (PH).
He said the situation could be due to Sabah Umno leaders no longer wanting to be associated with the party as the people’s rejection of Umno was increasing by the day.
“I know how strong Umno was in Sabah before this. But not today.
“This is a good development for PH. I don’t know about them (Sabah Umno leaders) wanting to join us, but I know the people are rejecting Umno in Sabah,” he said.
