Ibrahim Ali: We will ‘run amok’ to protect Malay rights

The Perkasa president, however, says this does not mean they will take the law into their own hands but will merely take action against those responsible.

PETALING JAYA:
Perkasa will ‘run amok’ if Malay rights and Rulers continue to be undermined.

However, its president Ibrahim Ali was quick to clarify that it did not mean that the non-governmental organisation would take the law into their own hands.

He said what he meant by “running amok” was that action would be taken according to the law against those responsible for offending the Malays.

“Malays won’t be quiet. We will make noise, we will rally. Don’t make us lose our patience,” he said at the “Himpunan Jihad Perkasa” rally in Kampung Baru.

Ibrahim said he hoped that his “warning” would make the authorities realise that Malays are not to be pushed around.

Directing his “warning” towards Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department P Waytha Moorthy, he said that he was shocked as to why Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad would appoint the Hindraf leader as a senator and minister.

He slammed Waytha for blaming the police for supposedly being slow to respond during the fracas at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ25 last Monday.

“He is a Cabinet member, why can’t he be patient. Because of publicity and to be a populist. To be seen as a hero among the Indian community.

“Its better to drop him from the Cabinet and I urge the government to review the number of Indians in the Cabinet,” he said.

On Nov 27, Umno’s Ahmad Zahid Hamidi launched a veiled attack against Waytha, warning the minister in charge of the national unity portfolio not to abuse his position by speaking out on behalf of only one particular group.

He said no one should try to be a hero to a particular race, especially when holding a portfolio for unity.
