PETALING JAYA:
Activist Arun Dorasamy will be charged at the Jawi magistrates’ court in Penang tomorrow morning.

He told FMT that it follows a report lodged against him over his statements “defending (Hindu) temples in Dengkil and Rawang”.

“I gave my statement (to police) three weeks ago, and they have been ordered to charge me tomorrow,” he said.

Bukit Aman later said that the charge will be under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, which relates to statements conducive to public mischief.

On March 2, Sinar Harian reported Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar as saying that eight police reports had been lodged against Arun for his role in the controversy surrounding the temple in Rawang.

Shazeli said the reports concern “dissatisfaction over statements he made” in the matter, adding that one report was lodged by the temple’s management.
