Streram booed by PKR delegates for straying from main focus of debate

They tell the Negeri Sembilan PKR delegate to step down from stage after he continues speaking about GE14.

Negeri Sembilan PKR delegate Dr Streram Sinnasamy promises to win Rantau state seat if chosen to contest in upcoming by-election.
SHAH ALAM:
Negeri Sembilan PKR delegate Dr Streram Sinnasamy was boo-ed by fellow delegates after he deviated from the main focus of the debate at the PKR National Congress here.

Delegates were supposed to debate on the president’s speech, but instead Streram took almost 10 minutes to speak on how he was chosen as the 14th general election (GE14) candidate.

He spoke about how he was grateful to be chosen as the candidate for the Rantau state seat to face Umno “giant”, former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan.

Although Streram was told by delegates to “get down” from the stage, he continued to speak about GE14.

Streram was also told by PKR National Congress deputy permanent chairman Abdul Wahab Ibrahim to focus on the debate.

“If I am chosen to be the Rantau by-election candidate again, I promise that I will bring back one more seat for the party,” he said.

Yesterday, the Election Court allowed the petition by Streram for a fresh election to be held for the Rantau state seat.

Streram had filed a petition on May 23 to nullify the Election Commission’s decision in declaring Mohamad the winner of the Rantau state seat.

Since the call for a fresh election, there has been resistance for Streram’s candidacy from party members, including Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, who suggested that the party field a Wanita wing candidate instead.
