Its chairman Rashid Din said there is no reason for him to have re-elections in the Julau division.
“In Julau, the data is intact, and only 19 did not complete the voting process. They took the QR code, but they did not vote.
“This number is very common in most of the other divisions. Everywhere is around that figure,” he told FMT.
Over 1,600 voters cast their votes in Julau.
Rashid was responding to candidate for deputy party president Rafizi Ramli’s statement that the election committee’s decision not to hold fresh elections was not fair to him and the members.
Rafizi had also alleged that the membership committee, led by Xavier Jayakumar, who is said to be aligned with incumbent Mohamed Azmin Ali, had checked and approved all applications including those from Julau, and that the JPP had checked and approved one-third of these.
“Just because he (Rafizi) failed to get the numbers the first time, so he wants a second chance? Come on, we have to be realistic, we have to be rational.
“If you failed to get the numbers there, now you want a second chance? I don’t know, but that is how I read it,” said Rashid.
He added that those who are in charge of the party elections are aligned to him and that they are very transparent with the election process.
“We are transparent. Anyone who deviates from that, I will sideline (them).
“In Keadilan (PKR), you know that there are two camps. When you pick somebody, it will be somebody who belongs to either camp. So who do you want me to pick?” said Rashid.
In comparing the Pensiangan division election, Rashid said a re-election had to be done as many people did not managed to vote in time.
“In Julau, at 1pm to 2pm, nobody came out to vote. Between 2pm and 4.30pm, only 20 plus people came to vote.
“In Pensiangan, even at 7pm, about 500 people came to vote. That is why we needed to re-do the election.
“But Rafizi is not making noise about Pensiangan, because he won with a big margin there.
“This is what people call sour grapes. All these are sour grapes,” he said.
It was reported that Rashid had decided not to hold a re-election in the Julau division despite allegations of tampering of the devices used in e-voting process.
In response, Rafizi said a PKR election official arrested recently over allegations of cheating in the party polls was a staunch supporter of Azmin.
Rafizi said the JPP had also failed to explain issues such as the increase of PKR members in Julau.
