Rafizi’s supporters are alleged to have used a loudspeaker to canvass for votes, prompting Azmin’s team to lodge a complaint with the party’s central elections committee.
“I understand that a complaint has been made. We noticed that the use of the loudspeaker had led to an argument between the two sides,” said Penang PKR chairman Mansor Othman, who is a candidate for the Central Leadership Council.
“As far as I know, during my visits to several states during the elections, the loudspeaker was not used. However, I wish to stress that the situation in Kota Samarahan is under control. It is much better than during some of the untoward incidents in the other states previously,” he said.
Mansor, who is said to be aligned with Azmin, spoke to reporters after taking a closer look at the elections at the Kota Samarahan division at the Kota Samarahan Industrial Training Institute hall here.
Bernama learned that Kota Samarahan division chief Jemree Sabli had informed the chief supervisor of the polling centre on the use of the loudspeaker this morning.
A check showed that a loudspeaker was used at one of the three tents set up by Rafizi’s supporters. The tents are located outside the perimeter fencing of the institute.
Songs and announcements asking party members to vote for Rafizi were broadcast using the loudspeaker.
Both Azmin and Rafizi are competing against each other for the deputy president’s post.
