His lawyer, Zuhair Ahmad Zakuan, said the matter was conveyed to him at about noon today by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Farhan Aliff Ahmad.
Zuhair said this followed his application for the court to revoke the arrest warrant that was issued against his client earlier today after Shahidan failed to turn up in court.
“We (the defence) made an application to the Perlis chief prosecutor Mohd Nordin Ismail, who is handling the case, but it was rejected. This means Shahidan has to be in court this Monday to face the charge against him,” he added.
Earlier today, Sessions Court judge Johari Abu Hassan issued a warrant of arrest against Shahidan for failing to be present in court to face charges.
Shahidan’s other lawyer, Syed Muhamad Anwar had objected to the issuing of the arrest warrant citing that neither his client nor he had been informed about it earlier and said that the defence would file for a revocation of the arrest warrant.
Based on the status uploaded on his Facebook, Shahidan is in Mecca, performing the umrah and is said to be arriving home today.
It was recently reported that the former Perlis MB had been accused of molesting a 15-year-old singer of a busker group sponsored by him.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on Oct 21.
Shahidan, however, denied the accusation and said the police report had been withdrawn.
The father of the girl had also stated that the matter had been amicably resolved and the family felt that there was no need to blow it out of proportion.
