In a consent judgement recorded before High Court Judicial Commissioner Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, Tengku Adnan said he had decided to withdraw his statement, made on June 1, 2017, against Sivarasa.
In turn, Sivarasa, who is currently the deputy minister of rural development, withdrew his lawsuit against Tengku Adnan.
Lawyer Latheefa Koya for Sivarasa said the court made no order on cost.
“As long as he (Tengku Adnan) retracted, we are happy,” she added.
Sivarasa had sued Tengku Adnan last year after the then federal territories minister “falsely accused” him of making political speeches in a Kampung Melayu Subang mosque on June 1.
He had said Tengku Adnan’s “false statement” was malicious because “he knew I had already denied it in my earlier press statements which were widely reported.”
Sivarasa claimed the “defamatory statement” had seriously injured his reputation, character and caused him severe distress.
Last year, the PKR MP was criticised after pictures purportedly of him giving a political speech in the Kampung Melayu Subang mosque, in Shah Alam, were circulated online.
Critics had slammed Sivarasa for apparently using a place of worship for political purposes.
He denied the allegation and said he was at the mosque to hand over an RM71,000 donation to the surau and mosques under his constituency.
The state religious department (Jais) also launched an investigation against Sivarasa and the mosque’s committee while Selangor ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, expressed his unhappiness over the use of the mosque for political purposes.
