Teen girl retracts report accusing ex-minister of molest

Perlis police say there will be no investigation as the complainant has retracted the report.

GEORGE TOWN: A police report was recently filed in Perlis against a senior politician who is said to be a former minister, accusing him of sexually molesting a teenager.

But the report, lodged by a 15-year-old girl at the Kangar police station on Oct 20, has since been retracted, said state police chief Noor Mushar Mohd.

Noor Mushar also declined to reveal details of the report.

“There is such a report but the complainant has retracted the said report. We cannot proceed with a molest case,” he said.

Yesterday, activist R Sri Sanjeevan, who runs anti-crime outfit Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force, questioned the police for not arresting the politician, whom he said was an MP.

“Why is the said MP yet to be arrested?” he said on Twitter, tagging Women, Family and Community Development Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy Hannah Yeoh.

Sanjeevan also included a pixelated picture of the alleged victim.

Attempts by FMT to get a copy of the report were in vain.
