The Malaysian Cricket Association’s lease on Kinrara Oval expires in two days.
PUCHONG:
It is just two more days before the lease on Kinrara Oval expires on Wednesday but the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) has yet to obtain a final decision on the status of the land.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Steven Sim said the ministry was still finding a suitable date for a meeting with the MCA and Pemaju Perumahan Kinrara Berhad (PKB).

“We are trying to get a date to meet all parties. The ministry will make a decision based on the law to resolve the matter.

“The ministry would like to assure cricket fans in the country that the sport will always have a home,” he said after the Women’s Twenty20 International series final between Australia and Pakistan at Kinrara Oval here today.

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail presented the prize to Australia who beat Pakistan 3-0.

On a new cricket venue, Sim said the ministry had received several proposals but they would only be considered after the meeting with the developer and MCA.

According to media reports, the land Kinrara Oval is sitting on has to be returned to PKB after MCA’s 15-year lease expires on Oct 31.
