“Where there are weaknesses in BN, be it in Umno, MCA and so on, we will overcome them together.
“But don’t talk about leaving BN,” said Khairy at the Parliament lobby today.
It comes as two senior MCA members said the party, which is now represented by one MP in the 222-seat Dewan Rakyat, should quit BN which was defeated in the May 9 polls.
Former president Dr Chua Soi Lek recently said he was in favour of MCA quitting BN.
Another party veteran, Gan Ping Sieu, who is contesting for the president’s post against deputy president Wee Ka Siong, has promised to take the party out of BN if he wins the party polls.
Khairy said he was confident of Wee’s victory.
“There’s a huge chance he will win. He is the sole MCA MP and he is committed to BN,” he said.
