MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon says the central committee is waiting for an incident report to be submitted by Selangor MCA.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong has rejected claims he failed to intervene in the brawl that erupted at a Selangor MCA event last week.
PETALING JAYA:
The members involved in a fight at an MCA event in Selangor last week will face disciplinary action, party secretary-general Chong Sin Woon said.

“MCA’s central committee feels very sorry for what happened. We, of course, met with the involved parties immediately to understand the situation. It was all a misunderstanding.

“Some people did not understand the speech, which led to a fight,” he was quoted as saying by China Press.

Chong said during a press conference today that the central committee is waiting for Selangor MCA to submit an incident report, which will then be handed over to the disciplinary committee.

He added that those involved have met and forgiven each other.

On July 27, a Sabak Bernam MCA representative disagreed with Kapar MCA chief Song Kee Chai’s speech at a Selangor event and tried to cut him off, according to China Press.

While Song and his team went over to the man’s table to talk things out, the man allegedly cursed the MCA division leader, causing a fight to break out.

At the height of the melee, which went viral on social media, one of the participants was seen throwing a chair at another, injuring him.

Meanwhile, MCA president Wee Ka Siong has dismissed Dr Chua Soi Lek’s claims that he failed to intervene as the fight erupted, China Press reported.

Wee said he had immediately ordered his assistant to go with the injured man to the hospital.

“Someone was going to be sent to the hospital. I immediately called my assistant to help him,” he said, adding that he still respects Chua a lot as they had worked together closely in two state elections.
