The former deputy prime minister arrived at 8.18am, escorted by police and officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He was greeted by a group of about 500 Umno supporters who had gathered outside the court compound since 7am to await his arrival. Umno Supreme Council member Ahmad Maslan was seen, along with deputy president Mohamad Hassan and vice-president Khaled Nordin.
Zahid’s family members including his wife, Hamidah Khamis, were also present.
Zahid was arrested yesterday afternoon, shortly after surrendering at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
He was being investigated over the alleged abuse of funds in relation to his family-run foundation, Yayasan Akal Budi.
