Anwar said these days, these super liberals are of the view that only their opinions matter and have to be followed.
He cited the example of how he had been attacked by the group for engineering the Port Dickson by-election, even after he had gone through so much suffering.
“I have been painted out to be an untrustworthy person for being too Malay and too Islamic. And there are those who think that to be a leader in Malaysia, you cannot be too Malay and too Islamic.
“When we chastise them (this group of super liberals), we are attacked. They behave as though the country only belongs to them.
“I wish to say, you are the majority. You have to rise up and say this is our country and we have the right to speak too,” he said in his lecture at the Wisma Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) here today.
Present were Education Minister Maszlee Malik and DBP board of governors chairman Mohamed Hatta Shaharom.
Port Dickson MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah had vacated his seat, paving the way for Anwar to contest the seat in his attempt to return to Parliament and later take over as the eighth prime minister.
The Election Commission has fixed Sept 29 as the nomination day for the Port Dickson by-election, Oct 9 for early voting and Oct 13 as polling day.
It will be the first time that Anwar is standing in a seat outside his hometown of Penang, where he represented Permatang Pauh twice.
Anwar further stated that he rejected the notion of the tyranny of the majority.
“This is something we do not want. This is something we say no to.
“We do not want a tyranny of the majority; we also do not want tyranny of the minority,” he added.
