“Yes, the top leadership agreed to the e-voting system and the dates of the polls. But the role of the central leadership is to agree or disagree on policy matters, not every minute detail,” said Afif Bahardin, the deputy Youth leader who is vying for the top post in the wing.
“I have nothing against Saifuddin, we have a good working relationship, but he has to take responsibility for this.”
Saifuddin has come under fire from some party leaders over glitches and alleged irregularities during polling which led to heated arguments and even scuffles at polling centres in Kedah and Penang.
Yesterday, Saifuddin said PKR’s central leadership council had agreed on the e-voting system.
However, Afif said the party’s election committee should ultimately take responsibility for the flaws in the voting system.
“You cannot shy away… if that is the case, let’s just surrender the election matters to the central leadership council.
“It is nothing personal, but the secretary-general must take proactive measures to fix the election system to inspire the confidence of members and the grassroots,” he said.
