KUALA LUMPUR: Police have raided the residence of the mother of Najib Razak as authorities tighten the noose against the former prime minister amid a string of fresh charges today.
It is understood that the raid on Tun Rahah Mohamed Noah’s house on Jalan Eaton here was related to the ongoing investigations into the former leader’s role in 1MDB.
When contacted, Najib’s lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah confirmed the raid, adding that police took nothing from the house.
“Yes, very mean of them to scare the poor lady and they found nothing in her house,” the prominent lawyer told FMT.
The raid comes as 25 more charges were slapped on Najib today, bringing a total of 32 charges so far since investigations began in the aftermath of Barisan Nasional’s downfall in the May 9 polls.
