Minister Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said the bureau will be placed under one of the ministry’s agencies and will coordinate efforts to further empower the development of Bumiputera entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises in Sabah.
The agency has yet to be identified, he told reporters after attending the third Bumiputera Entrepreneur Empowerment Convention, attended by some 500 participants here today.
Present were Deputy Entrepreneur Development Minister Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli and the ministry’s secretary-general Wan Suraya Mohd Radzi.
Redzuan said Sabah entrepreneurs may also post their views on the ministry’s website www.med.gov.my as well as its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
He said although the state has substantial plantations, fisheries and tourism resources, they should be more courageous and creative and explore other potential businesses.
In a related development, Redzuan said the ministry would introduce legislation to curb corruption and administrative leakages, which he said are responsible for Bumiputeras’ low participation in business.
