“This effort cannot be done overnight. It takes time. We have started this process by establishing an education ministry so that we can better focus on the educational needs of our people.

“We did not set it up so that we can introduce a different education system… It was meant to complement the national system because there are some things that Sabah needs more,” he said during a press conference here today.

The Warisan president said the majority of federal leaders today are aware of the aspirations of the people of Sabah.

“This is in their minds. So, give them time. We can execute the requirements in the MA63 but not all within a short time period.”

He also criticised Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president Jeffrey Kitingan over his proposal to replace MA63 with a new agreement, which could include secession from Malaysia.

“What has he contributed to realise the MA63?

“What did Umno give to Sabah under the MA63? At least we know the leaders today put MA63 in their manifesto,” he said.

Shafie is confident that the government would eventually implement all the requirements under the MA63.
