Its public communications director, Capt (Rtd) Dr Wong Ang Peng, said a message in Bahasa Malaysia attributed to the association’s president, Brig Gen Mohamed Arshad Raji, had recently gone viral.
The message contains the words: “Army veteran donates almost millions in ringgit to Danyal Balagopal during GE14 campaign, now Danyal has sold the seat to Anwar for RM25 million — Brig Gen (Rtd) Mohamed Arshad Raji (Patriot president)”.
“Patriot would like to categorically state that neither BG Mohamed Arshad nor Patriot has made the purported statement.
“We are disgusted that such an unethical tactic is still being employed by the enemies of Pakatan Harapan (PH), employing cybertroopers to spread falsehoods, lies and confusion, and to put our president, Patriot and PH in a bad light.
“Patriot reserves the right to take legal action against those responsible in spreading such lies,” Wong said in a statement today.
Patriot had recently voiced its opposition towards Danyal vacating his seat for incoming PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to make his comeback to Parliament, and eventually becoming the country’s eighth prime minister.
