According to the New Straits Times, he said PKR had taken the first step by making Anwar president.
“Our next step is to make him a member of Parliament. This is because many are questioning, saying Anwar is a nobody, not an MP, and merely a former prisoner.
“So I want to tell the people in Kelantan that next week, one Parliament seat will be vacated to make way for Anwar to contest,” he was quoted as saying at PKR’s Reformasi 20 Tahun event at Kota Bharu last night.
Anwar, who recently won the PKR presidency uncontested, has so far remained coy about where he would contest. However, he has indicated that he wants to be in the Dewan Rakyat by October.
He has ruled out the possibility of contesting the Pandan parliamentary seat held by his wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, or Permatang Pauh, his former seat now represented by his daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar.
He did not contest in the May 9 general election as he was serving a five-year jail term for sodomy at the Sungai Buloh prison.
He was released on May 16 after receiving a full pardon from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
