PUTRAJAYA:
Six administrative and diplomatic officers (PTD) from the Prime Minister’s Department and a deputy director-general with a “Datuk” title are in remand for five days for allegedly misusing funds for the May 9 general election.

Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim issued the remand order, which expires on Sept 1, following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Magistrate’s Court here today.

The seven suspects, aged between 34 and 49, arrived at the court dressed in orange MACC lock-up attire.

According to an MACC source, they were arrested by MACC between 11.30am and 10pm yesterday for investigation under Section 23 of the MACC Act for using their office or position for gratification.
