The education ministry also issued a warning to the operator of the kindergarten.

PUTRAJAYA:
The Education Ministry has withdrawn the teaching permits of two teachers after a video clip of them abusing students of a private kindergarten in Melaka went viral on social media yesterday.

The education ministry in a statement said the action was taken to ensure the teachers would not have any interaction with students or work in the kindergarten.

“The operator (of the kindergarten) was also given a stern warning over their negligence for running a centre for children between the ages of four and five,” it said.

The incident took place at Tadika PPKK Seri Bijak Bestari 3, Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh. The kindergarten is registered under the ministry.

The ministry has also instructed the Melaka Education Department to assist in the management and operation of kindergartens during classes.

Police are now looking into the matter after a report was lodged on Saturday by the kindergarten manager.

According to media reports, the teachers aged 21 and 40, were arrested by police yesterday for investigations under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001.

In the 2-minute and 10-second video clip, one of the teachers was seen lifting a female pupil and placing the child on top of a boy who is lying down.

The second video which runs for 36 seconds shows one of the teachers slapping a boy until he falls off a chair.
