The Rembau MP said it was a serious allegation and he believed that an open investigation should be made instead of an internal inquiry by the finance ministry.
“Tomorrow I will lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“We (Barisan Nasional) want to clear the name of the previous government.
“If it is proven that there was a ‘robbery’, then bring those involved to court. If not, it must be explained that the allegations were inaccurate and unjustified,” the Rembau MP said after lodging the police report at the Sentul district police headquarters.
Lim told the Dewan Rakyat that about RM18 billion in GST input tax, which was supposed to be paid back to businesses since the implementation of the tax in 2015, was missing.
He said RM19.4 billion had not been refunded to businesses because the former Barisan Nasional government had misappropriated the funds.
The funds were supposed to be put in a trust account but instead went into the consolidated fund and were spent, he said.
Only about RM1.5 billion remained in the account, Lim said.
