
The education ministry said in a statement that Dzukifli replaced Prof Dr Zaleha Kamarudin whose term expired on July 31.
“The education ministry believes that with his experience and leadership ability, Dzulkifli will be able to administer IIUM with excellence and make the university a reference centre for Islamic knowledge,” the statement said.
Dzukifli, who was a former vice-chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) for 11 years, has extensive experience in the academic world as well as the administration of higher education both locally and abroad.
His leadership was evident when he succeeded in making USM the first public university in the country to obtained Apex (accelerated programme for excellence) status.
