
“I don’t eat dedak. This is shameful. It is slander,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat.
“Dedak” means chicken feed in Malay but it has taken on the meaning of being corrupted.
To this, Gobind Singh Deo (PH-Puchong) asked who had millions of ringgit in cash, handbags and watches worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit in their apartments.
He said this in winding up the debate on issues related to the communications and multimedia ministry.
Hearing this, Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) said the Barisan Nasional stood by the principle of allowing the courts to decide on who was guilty or not guilty.
He remarked that even Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had appointed Lim Guan Eng (PH- Bagan) as a minister, alluding to the fact that Lim was facing corruption charges over the purchase of a bungalow.
“Let the court decide. Let’s have good intentions among us,” said Ismail.
Gobind replied that the two cases were different.
“The case in the Pavilion condominium, we saw. Even though it is said the cash belongs to Umno but do the handbags and watches also belong to Umno,” he asked.
Ismail then reminded Gobind that there was a request from an outside party demanding the return of some of the items.
A Lebanese wholesale jewellery firm is suing Rosmah for the return of 44 pieces of jewellery allegedly sent to her for viewing, or to pay the price for all the items totalling US$14.79 million (RM59.8 million).
