The truce was reached during a meeting mediated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa at his office here yesterday.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, which lasted about 40 minutes, Mujahid said Asri and Ramasamy had agreed to leave the matter of Ramasamy’s alleged links with the LTTE to the police.
The matter of Naik, meanwhile, would be decided by the Cabinet.
The spat arose after Asri suggested that Ramasamy hold a public debate with Naik over who was the “real terrorist” after the DAP central executive committee member called for the preacher, who holds permanent resident status, to be deported to his home country of India.
Mujahid said how the disagreement was resolved would serve as a benchmark for the resolution of other such conflicts in the future.
Both Ramasamy and Asri thanked Mujahid for his intervention in the matter.
