Mumtaz Ali, who chairs the Save Kuala Lumpur (SKL) coalition, said this was conveyed to them during a meeting with Khalid recently.
He said Khalid assured them that he would direct the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to engage with SKL before submitting a local plan to the minister for gazetting.
“DBKL needs to organise sessions to give effective feedback to the stakeholders, especially residential communities and resident associations, to explain on the then inputs received, accepted, and rejected, based on the focus discussion group engagements as well as subsequent dialogues,” he said in a statement, following a meeting with Khalid which was also attended by SKL chairman Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman.
SKL, which has been behind citizens’ engagement with DBKL in 2008 on the DKLCP 2020, said DBKL had made changes to the plan despite a series of discussions with the group.
Mumtaz had said DBKL must use the 2008 version of the DKLCP 2020, with the feedback that was provided over a duration of time.
“Otherwise, DBKL may just table whatever suits it,” he said.
He said in their meeting with Khalid, local council elections including for the Kuala Lumpur mayor were also discussed.
