In an answer to a complaint by former premier Najib Razak on Saturday, Lim denied that he had equated Islam and kleptocracy, as Najib had said in his complaint, and called it a “wild, false and unfounded claim”.
Najib had questioned the daily attacks being made against him in statements by Kit Siang, whose blog shows 18 entries about Najib in July alone. “I will not be able to stop his obsession towards me but Kit Siang should not ridicule my religion and use it as a campaign tool,” Najib said.
Earlier on Saturday, Lim had posted on his blog a statement with the title “Sungai Kandis by-election a crucial test whether Najib has succeeded in equating Islam with kleptocracy in Malaysia”.
Najib said Lim had crossed the line for suggesting that a BN victory in Sungai Kandis would amount to equating Islam with kleptocracy.

This morning, Lim said Najib had made “a colossal blunder” which, Lim said, even a school child would not make. Lim also questioned the “intellectual capability and moral failing” of Umno and PAS leaders.
Lim said he had never belittled Islam or any other religion, after which he continued with further attacks on Najib and frequent mentions of “kleptocracy”, the phrase he constantly uses to belittle the former premier, Umno and Barisan Nasional.
