He said the celebration will begin at Padang Kota Lama (Esplanade) in Penang with the launch of the National Month and “Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2018” events by the Prime Minister on Aug 4.

The logo was created by Nik Zulkifli Nik Hitam, and selected from 632 entries received by the ministry.
The logo, which was chosen by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, symbolises the people lifting their hands in joy and the shape of a heart uniting them.
“The logo portrays Malaysians of various races living in diversity, harmony, unity and with a strong affection for Malaysia,” Gobind said.
The theme song was sung by the Malaysian rock band, Bunkface, and composed by its lead vocalist Sam.
Gobind said the song was catchy and had a vibrant Pop beat, and was also selected by Mahathir from among several songs sent in.
