M-bike gangs taken to mosque for subuh prayers

The 80 Muslim motorcyclists and pillion riders were rounded up during 'Samseng Jalanan' operations in Kemaman today.

A group of 79 Muslim motorcyclists and pillion riders was brought to the Sultan Ahmad Mosque here to perform the subuh prayers after police detained them in the “Samseng Jalanan” joint operations in the district early this morning.

Kemaman district police chief Supt Mohd Said Ibrahim said they were among 115 motorcyclists who were detained in the operations held from 3.30am until 5am at roadblocks.

These roadblocks were at Km160 Jalan Kuala Terengganu, heading towards Kuantan, as well as in ambushes on rat trails and Jalan Chukai, heading towards Air Putih.

“They were aged between 15 and 30. They were first brought to the Kemaman district police headquarters.

“After giving their statements, they were taken to the mosque to join the congregation for the subuh prayers,” he said when contacted today.

He added that police also detained three youths, aged between 17 and 19, who tested positive for drugs.

Said said during the operations, 90 motorcycles were inspected and 135 summonses issued for various offences.
