Nga Kor Ming urged the opposition to submit their nominees for the PAC chief’s post.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government has announced its intention, in keeping with the coalition’s election manifesto promise, to appoint an opposition MP as PAC chairman, while choosing a PH lawmaker for the deputy chairman’s position.
Nga said this in response to opposition leader and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s remark yesterday that he was waiting for an official letter on the appointment of the PAC chief.
Zahid had also said he would discuss with other MPs from the Barisan Nasional and PAS on the matter.
He also told the media that he had met with Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah recently but declined to elaborate on their meeting.
De facto Law Minister Liew Vui Keong had said that Zahid’s name was being floated as the PAC chair.
However, he added that it was up to Zahid to decide if he wished to accept the post.
