KUALA TERENGGANU: A seven-year-old girl lost her left arm in an accident last night after the sweater she was wearing became entangled in the rim of a motorcycle tyre.
In the 9.30pm incident at Kampung Binjai Bongkok, Marang, Nur Zulaikha Khumaira had borrowed her mother’s jacket to keep warm as she rode pillion with her 18-year-old cousin.
However, the oversized sweater became caught in the rim of the vehicle tyre, causing the accident which cost Nur Zulaikha her arm.
Her father, Zulkifli Mohamed, said he was devastated as the future now appeared bleak for his oldest child.
“Doctors have told me that because of the extent of the injuries, she cannot be fitted with a prosthetic arm,” he said when met at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital.
The 38-year-old added that he was helpless and would leave the matter to God.
