
State health committee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin said the first-term assemblyman underwent the surgery at the Penang Hospital on Monday.
“As of yesterday, he was recovering well. Everything is good and stable.
“Give him time to recover from his surgery,” he said at a press conference today.
According to theSundaily, the Pinang Tunggal assemblyman is still being warded at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and will be transferred to the normal ward soon.
The former engineer is expected to be warded for one or two weeks depending on his health.
Zakiyuddin complained of chest pains while attending a function in Kepala Batas on July 5 and was rushed to a private hospital in Seberang Jaya.
He was referred to the Penang Hospital where he was placed under observation in the cardiology ward.
Doctors classified his case as a “minor heart attack”. Zakiyuddin was able to converse and walk.
On Monday, Ahmad underwent a six-hour operation conducted by a team of specialists at Penang Hospital.
