The officer who has a “Datuk” title was brought to the Magistrate’s Court here by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) this morning.
Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim gave the order for the 42-year-old to be remanded until Sunday.
The former special officer, who was accompanied by investigating officer Mohd Farid Ismail, was not represented by a lawyer.
According to an MACC official, the man had gone to the anti-graft agency’s headquarters at 6pm yesterday to have his statement recorded over 1MDB.
“We then detained him at 9.45pm and brought him to court for the remand order,” said the official who declined to be identified.
It is learnt that the man is assisting MACC under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act for bribery.
