
He said the state would always have a special place in his heart.
“It is time for me to leave Selangor and I wish the staff here all the best.
“I would like to say thank you to everyone who had helped me and gave me their continuous support during the last four years.
“However, I will still be communicating with my successor,” he said at his farewell speech at the state secretariat building here.
Azmin, 54, was sworn in for a second term as the Selangor menteri besar on May 11. However, he is vacating the post to take up his federal appointment.

Among the elected representatives tipped to replace him as menteri besar are Seri Setia assemblyman Shaharuddin Badaruddin, Sungai Tua assemblyman Amirudin Shari, Sungai Kandis assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei, Ijok assemblyman Idris Ahmad and Paya Jaras assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman.
Azmin said he had met Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to inform the sultan of his replacement as agreed by the PKR and Pakatan Harapan leadership.
“The Sultan of Selangor has given his consent for the swearing-in of the new menteri besar to be held tomorrow at 9.30am.
“I believe that my successor will continue my work with integrity and dynamism” he said.
