In his Hari Raya message, the Parti Warisan Sabah president said the people of Sabah should set aside political differences as the time for politicking was over.
Shafie called on Sabahans, in gathering on this joyous Aidilfitri occasion with family and friends, to connect with the community and continue to help those in need.
“Uphold peace and harmony that has long been a mainstay and basis of multi-racial unity in our beloved Sabah.
“We must preserve this as we move forward to bring back the greatness that was once our pride and joy and this can only be achieved if Sabahans are united,” he said, in a message released by the Chief Minister’s Department yesterday.
He added that the election results had indicated the people had overwhelmingly lost confidence in the old regime
“The situation in the state is not as wonderful as it was once painted by the past administration,” said the Semporna MP.
“Rakyat Sabah have voiced their fullest support for the Warisan-led state government formed with partners in Pakatan Harapan and Upko.
“We are left to pick up the pieces and put Sabah back on the right track. As such, my Warisan-Pakatan Harapan-Upko government will be in full swing after the Aidilfitri holidays as there is a tremendous amount of work to do.”
Shafie said Sabahans deserved the best and that he aimed to give the people what was rightfully theirs.
“Things are moving in the right direction and it can only get better with a dedicated government that is people-centric,” he said, extending also Aidilfitri greetings from his wife Shuryani Shuaib and his family to Muslims in Sabah and the rest of the country.
”Today, we celebrate this wonderful holiday but also commit ourselves to build a great Sabah that all Sabahans can be proud of.
“We reaffirm the values of democracy, freedom of religion, hard work and nation-building to achieve social and economic progress for the future of our children,” he said.
He also welcomed the public to join the state Raya celebrations at Menara Tun Mustapha, otherwise known as the Yayasan Sabah building, on June 17.
