PETALING JAYA:
The police are raiding a bungalow believed to be linked to former prime minister Najib Razak in Putrajaya, Bukit Aman cops say.

Sin Chew Daily had earlier reported that at least four police vehicles from the Commercial Crime Department arrived at the double-storey bungalow in Precinct 10 at 1pm.

When contacted, Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Department chief Amar Singh confirmed that the raid was taking place.

The team from Bukit Aman was seen loading boxes into a van.

According to sources, the bungalows located in Precinct 10 serve as senior government officers’ quarters.

Each bungalow bears the insignia of the Property and Land Management Division which is a division under the Prime Minister’s Department.

The bungalow is also located near Seri Perdana, the prime minister’s official residence.

It is believed that the last occupant of the bungalow was Najib’s former principal private secretary Shukry Mohd Salleh.

Shukry was appointed Bank Rakyat chairman in January last year.

While the bungalow looks vacant, there were stacks of boxes in the living room.

Two uniformed policemen are guarding the premises, while the team from Bukit Aman ended their search about 3pm.

The raid comes after the authorities searched premises linked to Najib in their investigations into corruption and money laundering allegations related to 1MDB.

This included Najib’s private residence in Langgak Duta and three apartments at Pavilion Residences, two of which belong to his children.

The searches which took place last month turned up 72 bags of cash and nearly 300 boxes containing luxury handbags.

Police said a total of RM114 million was found in 35 of the 72 bags, while the remaining 37 bags contained jewellery and other valuable items.

1MDB, which was founded by Najib, is being investigated in at least six countries including the US. Najib has denied any wrongdoing.
