Amri’s wife, Norhayati Mohd Ariffin, had told the inquiry that the “whistleblower”, a Sergeant Shamzaini, had told her that police were involved in the disappearance of both Amri and Pastor Raymond Koh.
Norhayati had claimed that Shamzaini had come to see her at her house on May 12.
Police observer ACP R Munusamy presented a May 18 police report by Shamzaini denying everything Norhayati had claimed.
He asked Norhayati whether she agreed that nearly everything Shamzaini had supposedly told her had already been reported in the media.
“Well, there were also details which have not been reported,” she answered.
After the inquiry had finished questioning Norhayati, one of her daughters, Nur Amirah Amri, 18, took the witness stand, saying she was there the whole time Shamzaini and her mother were talking that night.
“My mother had asked me to come downstairs as there was a policeman,” she said.
“The policeman said he felt guilty about what had happened and needed to tell us the truth. He looked frightened when he was speaking to us, as if he was afraid that someone would catch him there.”
Amirah said she and her mother had gone to Kuala Lumpur the next day to inform the family lawyers about what had happened and to file a police report.
“On May 15, between 9pm and 10pm, when we came back, my younger sister told me four policemen had come to the house while we were on the way back asking where my mother was.
“My sister told me three of them were in plain clothes.”
