Streram’s lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali said Azimah’s name was revealed by a court official during a case management at the Seremban High Court today.
Azimah is currently stationed at the High Court in Shah Alam.
Rashid said the court had fixed another case management on June 28 and instructed lawyers for the EC and returning officer Amino Agos Suyub to file their replies to allegations of impropriety and abuse of power as claimed by Streram.
He said a federal counsel from the Attorney-General’s Chambers appeared for the EC and Agos. However, then Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan, who won the seat unopposed, was not represented.
Streram, who filed his action last week, wants the election court to declare Mohamad’s victory as illegal and that a by-election be held.
He said the EC had breached provisions in the Election Offences Act 1954 and regulations when its officers did not order the police to allow him, his proposer and seconder into the centre.
As a result, he said, although qualified, he was denied the constitutional right to contest in the election.
“The voters in Rantau were also not given the chance to cast their ballots,” he said.
