Cuepacs president Azih Muda said the move was proof of the new government’s commitment to reviving Malaysia’s economy.
“Cuepacs sees this as a logical move. The Cabinet ministers are also not upset by this initiative because they will have other allowances,” he told Bernama when contacted yesterday.
However, he expressed hope that the salary cuts would only apply to Cabinet members and not civil servants.
Likewise, he said, Cuepacs hoped that the dissolution of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) would not mean that the services of civil servants in the agency were terminated.
“Cuepacs agrees with the dissolution of SPAD because its functions overlap with those of the Road Transport Department, but we hope the civil servants in SPAD are absorbed into other ministries or departments,” he said.
